Learning to pee on grass

I am for the first time in my life experiencing the season called 'Spring'. Something that I have learned about in classrooms and books, Something I have heard about in stories, and something I only seen in photos and movies. Only in the movies spring happens over night and we all come out of our houses singing and dancing in the streets dressed in bright floral clothes. Well that just doesn't happen...and might I point out I still am dressing in black because it is still 32 degrees! I will need at least 60 degrees to start dancing...I'll actually settle for 50, really.

Spring is more like the transition from Alaska winter to Alaska summer. 30-40 degrees is the new spring, and I don't know if we all are just craving to fit in with the lower 48 but we are all walking around in flip flops and shorts. We sweat at the thought of 50 degrees, and 60...whoa that's a 'hot' summer day!

There is one thing that not even a cold day can take away, and that is when you walk outside and the sun shine's brightly upon your face. You close your eyes and for a second I can even hear the waves crashing into the beach...this dream comes crashing down when I take a step foward and sink into snow...or now what is a muddy cold grass.

All in all the snow is melting, the sun isn't setting til 9pm , and everybody seems a whole lot happier. So I really can't complain.
