Portage Glacier

Memorial Day weekend at the Frazee household consisted of going to the movies, lying outside catching some sun rays and going on a glacier cruise. Only here in Alaska could you squeeze those three random activities into two days.
We drove down to Portage Glacier Saturday, which is located just 12 miles south of Girdwood. This weekend we had temperatures reach as high as 70 degrees, so it was a perfect day to be out on the boat. When the boat approached the Glacier we were lucky enough to see some of the Glacier break off, which was breathe taking. I couldn’t believe how loud it was, and created waves big enough to rock the whole entire boat. The Captain grabbed some pieces of the freshly broken glacier and handed them to everyone to chew on.
